4th Annual BIP New Year’s Bash, 2007 - 2008

4th Annual BIP New Year’s Bash, 2007-2008

Rico’s Team, Journal Entry #1

By, Macall and Shelby, Winter Springs, FL

First, we would like to correct the team name; we actually play for Riiiiicolaaaaaaa. Alright, now down to business.

Our first flight was from Orlando to Atlanta. From Atlanta, we took the flight of our lives to Milan. From Milan we took a bus to Venice. In Venezia there were many glassware and mask shops. We got our first taste of real Italian pizza and had some gelato, despite the cold weather. We got to see the gondolas and literally every street in Venice while trying to find San Marco Square. Devon and I broke free of the terrible tour guides and actually found Piazza San Marco which was beautiful. The rest of the group took a water taxi back to the bus. We took the city bus back to the Venice airport and then boarded the charter bus to Izola, Slovenia. We were given explicit instructions NOT to fall asleep. So Macall, Devon, and I fell straight to sleep and woke up in Izola.

Our hotel is quaint but pretty and is located on the Marina. Our games today were in a foul smelling school that was walking distance away. We won our first game, but lost the second to a crazy good team in three sets. We do not have our jerseys or shirts to wear yet so we wore the crazy good team’s jerseys.  The food here is interesting but is good for the most part. Even though we don’t know what language they speak here, let alone understand it, we are having a really great time and we like it a lot. We would write more details and such but we are tired and have things to do tomorrow.
