Ditsala International Cup
Historically Black Colleges and Universities
TEAM HBCUs
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have played a pivotal role in the development and success of the Ditsala International Cup. The foundation was laid in 2018 when Howard University made a groundbreaking trip to Botswana and Zimbabwe, inspiring the vision for what would become the Ditsala International Cup.
In 2024, Howard University returned to Botswana to compete in the inaugural Ditsala International Tournament and emerged as the tournament champions, solidifying their legacy and leadership.
Building on that momentum, the 2025 tournament featured a mixed team comprised of athletes from eight HBCU institutions. The team was guided by three head coaches, one assistant coach, and one athletic director, whose collaborative efforts led Team HBCU to another championship victory.
Looking ahead to 2026, the goal is to expand participation by forming two HBCU teams, allowing more student-athletes and coaches to engage in this unique opportunity for international competition, cultural exchange, and the continued mission to “Grow the Game.”

The year 2026 will mark Team BIP’s second consecutive participation in the Ditsala International Cup. Team BIP is a diverse and dynamic group composed of collegiate volleyball players and coaches from the United States and around the world.
United by a shared passion for volleyball, cultural exchange, and international travel, these athletes are committed to supporting the mission to ‘Grow the Game’ globally. For the 2026 tournament, Team BIP will field two teams, each consisting of approximately 12 players.
