Ramona Riley-Bozier

Ramona Riley-Bozier is a distinguished American volleyball coach and former athlete, renowned for her transformative impact on Morgan State University’s volleyball program. After earning her bachelor’s (1987) and master’s degrees in sociology, she began her coaching career in 1987 and is currently working on a doctoral degree in the Community College Leadership Program (Ed.D.). Over 34 seasons, she became the winningest coach in Morgan State athletics history, amassing 481 victories. Under her leadership, the Lady Bears secured four Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships (1992, 1997, 1998, 2000). They made three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a historic first-round win in 1997 that made Morgan State the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to reach the NCAA Division I Tournament. Riley-Bozier was honored as MEAC Coach of the Year five times and inducted into the MEAC Hall of Fame in 2023. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recognized her among the “Godmothers of Volleyball” in the 50th-anniversary celebration of Title IX. She was also the head softball coach at Morgan State, further solidifying her legacy as a dual-sport coach. In 2021, she retired from coaching and became the Assistant Director for Intramurals and Wellness at Morgan State, continuing her commitment to student-athlete development and wellness.
